About beabutter

What is beabutter?

beabutter is a small-batch botanical skin butter. It is made with a proprietary blend of plant oils and butters and gives rich, calming moisture to dry, stressed skin. It is a daily comfort ritual, not a medication.

Who makes beabutter?

beabutter was created by our founder for her late husband Ricardo (Ric), a firefighter who was severely burned in a 2002 structure fire. Nothing eased his dry, scarred skin, so she made a rich, nourishing cream for him at home. Ric lived another twenty years, became beabutter's co-founder and most trusted product tester, and his legacy lives on in every jar.

What does "Born from love. Proven by relief." mean?

It describes how beabutter started. Bea made it out of love for her husband. It stayed in his routine because it gave his skin real comfort. Friends and family asked for jars, and that is how the brand began.

The product

What is beabutter made of?

beabutter is made with a proprietary botanical blend: a signature plant-oil complex made in small batches. The full ingredient list is printed on every jar and listed on the product page in our shop. Always check the list if you have sensitivities.

What does beabutter feel like on skin?

beabutter is rich and dense in the jar and softens as it warms in your hands. A small amount covers a lot of skin. It leaves skin feeling soft, comfortable, and moisturized.

Using beabutter

How do I use beabutter?

With clean, dry hands, scoop out a pea-sized amount and warm it between your fingertips until it softens. Then press and smooth it into clean, slightly damp skin. Use more on very dry areas like hands, elbows, knees, and heels. Close the lid tightly when you are done. Use it morning and night, or anytime your skin needs comfort.

Can I use beabutter on my face?

Many people use beabutter on their face, especially on dry areas. Because it is rich, start with a very small amount. Keep it away from your eyes. Try it on a small patch of skin first to see how your skin responds.

Is beabutter good for very dry or eczema-prone skin?

beabutter is made to comfort and moisturize dry, stressed skin, and many customers with very dry skin use it every day. It is a cosmetic, not a treatment for any skin condition. If you have eczema, psoriasis, or another diagnosed condition, ask your dermatologist before adding a new product.

Is beabutter a medicine?

No. beabutter is a cosmetic moisturizer that comforts and softens skin. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Storage and care

How should I store beabutter?

Keep beabutter at cool room temperature and out of direct sunlight. A drawer, cabinet, or shelf away from windows, heaters, and stoves works well. beabutter has no emulsifiers or preservatives, so heat can soften or melt it and cold can make it firm. Close the lid tightly after every use.

Why does beabutter melt or get hard?

beabutter is made only of plant butters and oils, with no emulsifiers, stabilizers, or preservatives to hold its texture in place. Plant butters naturally soften in warm temperatures and firm up in cool ones. A change in texture is normal and does not mean anything is wrong with your jar.

My beabutter melted. Is it still okay to use?

Yes. Close the lid tightly and move the jar to a cool spot so it can set again. Avoid putting it in the freezer to speed things up. Melting and setting more than once can make the texture a little grainy as the butters set at different speeds. It still moisturizes the same way, and the graininess softens as soon as you warm it between your fingertips.

My beabutter is very firm. What should I do?

Let the closed jar sit at room temperature for a while, or scrape a little out with a clean fingertip and hold it in your palm. Your body heat will soften it in a few seconds. Do not microwave the jar or set it on a heater.

How do I keep my jar clean and fresh?

Because beabutter has no preservatives, keeping the jar clean matters. Wash and dry your hands before you use it, or use a clean, dry spatula. Keep water out of the jar, so do not dip in with wet fingers. Close the lid tightly after each use to keep out air, dust, and moisture. If the smell, color, or texture ever changes in a way that seems off, stop using it.

How long does beabutter last once I open it?

For the best experience, use beabutter within 3 to 6 months of opening the jar. Because it has no preservatives, it is at its freshest in those first months. It can help to write the date you opened it on the bottom of the jar. Storing it cool, using clean hands, and closing the lid tightly all help it stay fresh. If the smell, color, or texture ever seems off, stop using it.

Can I travel with beabutter?

Yes. Make sure the lid is closed tightly and keep the jar in your bag, not in a hot car, on a dashboard, or in direct sun at the beach or pool. The travel size is easy to carry for trips, gym bags, and desk drawers. For flights, check your airline's current rules for creams in carry-on bags.
